Dance Classes and Adult Fitness

Dance Class

At Ruth's Dance and Fitness Co. LLC. we offer dance classes that are sure to teach the fundamentals and techniques of Classical Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance, Tap and Musical Theater. In addition students will learn strength and flexibility through using the appropriate muscle groups to achieve their ultimate goals in dance. Students at Ruth's Dance and Fitness. will be able to explore the art of dance in many different facets. It's a win-win situation for students and parents, and your child's physical and mental health will benefit greatly through learning correct form, muscle discipline, and energizing choreography.

Fall 2019-Spring 2020 Dance Class Menu

  

CHILDREN’S BALLET I & II (Ages 4-6 & 5-7)

Student’s will work on ballet stretches and basic combinations across the floor. Emphasis on terminology and correct body placement.


ADVANCED CHILDREN'S BALLET (Ages 7-11)
Student’s will continue to advance in their stretches and will learn ballet exercises at the barre. More intricate footwork will be taught at center floor. Strong emphasis on body placement and balance.


JUNIOR BALLET I & II (Ages 8-12 & 10-14)

Students will continue to perfect their stretches.  Combinations taught at the barre will become more intricate in order to develop inner thigh and calve strength needed for balancing in ballet. 


SENIOR BALLET/POINTE  & ADULT ALUMNI  (Ages 14-18 & 18 PLUS)

All combinations taught at the barre and center floor will be much more complex. Students will learn more advanced terminology at the barre and the exercises will be much more detailed with a special focus on balance.  Students will be expected to learn at a quicker pace and multiple combinations will be taught at center floor.


ADULT BALLET ( Ages 18 plus)

Adults will learn a slow and methodical approach to ballet at the barre. The class focuses on correct body placement and students will learn barre exercises to build stronger and leaner muscles.


BEGINNER CHILDREN’S JAZZ  (Ages 6-9)

Jazz isolations, stretches and basic jazz combinations will be taught at center floor.


JUNIOR JAZZ I & II (8-12 & 11-14)

Jazz Isolations, stretching combined with jazz technique and more intricate choreography at center floor.


SENIOR JAZZ (Ages 14-18)

Faster paced jazz isolations and aggressive stretches along with strength and balance combinations at center floor. Students will learn more advanced Jazz choreography at center floor.


JUNIOR TAP (Ages 8-13)

Beginner to intermediate tap fundamentals and scale work will be taught in this class.  Students will learn tap choreography at center floor.


SENIOR TAP (Ages 14-18)

Intermediate to advanced tap scale work will be emphasized.  Students will learn more advanced tap choreography at center floor.


ECCENTRICS ( ADULT CLASS)

Adults will learn to stretch and tone through dynamic choreographed movement. The class is geared for all fitness levels to music that is motivating.  Students will combine stretching and strengthening through the use of their own body resistance. The class is equipment free and engages 650 muscles. The workout rebalances the body, prevents and treats injuries and unlocks joints.


ACTING WORKSHOPS-6 WEEKS ( Ages 10-18)

Students will be coached on a monologue of their choice and they will also be coached on how to better become the character in the skit provided. All skits and monologues must be age appropriate.  

Adult Fitness

Ruth is a certified Group Exercise Instructor through NETA (National Exercise Trainers Assoc.). Ruth has been a member of FACT (Fitness Assoc. for Continuing Teachers and the Association of Fitness Professionals).
Ruth's Dance and Fitness Co.,LLC., now in its 28th year, was built upon a foundation of strong dance techniques that stress balance, muscle control and safety awareness issues.


NON-AEROBIC:
BODY STRENGTHNING
Using weights, balls and bands we strength train all the major muscle groups to achieve a toned and sculpted look as well as stronger bones.

CORE STRENGTH / BARRE
Through the use of your mind, body and breath, you will be taught qualitative “core-conditioning”. The stomach, back and glutes will be the target of your “core”. This class will help you achieve toned muscles, flat abs and improved posture that will help you achieve a leaner look. This class is perfect for those afraid of aerobics!


TRADITIONAL AEROBICS:

STEP AEROBICS
A High Energy Workout !!  Upbeat fun music will be played to motivate you to work on the bench at your peak cardio level. Truly a fat burning class !!   You will learn step patterns that will help you reach your cardio threshold, and you will feel revitalized when you are done

Assisted Living Classes: On-sight

WE WILL COME TO YOUR ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY

We provide the exercise program, along with any necessary equipment and music. Participating as a group in a fun and lively atmosphere, residents perform exercises that utilize stretch and strength training movements while seated at all times for safety and steady balance.

Ruth currently runs a Stretch and Strength program on site at Meridian Arms, The Alterra Sterling House, and Sunrise Assisted Living. She has also taught classes at Marian Living Center, and the Commons at Greenbriar.
